Bet365 dropping tennis futures markets 48 hours before tournaments - Alcaraz ATP Finals winner went from +280 to unavailable

Just logged into Bet365 to place a futures bet on Alcaraz for ATP Finals winner at +280 (saw it yesterday) and the entire tournament winner market has vanished. This is Tuesday and the tournament starts Thursday in Turin.

Same thing happened last month with the Paris Masters - had Djokovic at +320 on the Monday, went to back it Tuesday morning and the whole outright market was gone. Only got it back Wednesday with much shorter odds.

Anyone else seeing this pattern with Bet365 tennis futures? The timing seems deliberate - they pull the markets right when sharp money would typically come in 48-72 hours before first serve. Other sports don't seem affected, just tennis tournaments.

Classic liquidity management by Bet365. They're not pulling markets randomly - they're seeing sharp action on specific players and protecting themselves from getting middled.

The +280 on Alcaraz was soft money. Turin indoor conditions favour his game massively and anyone with basic tennis knowledge could see that line was 40-50 points too high. They caught wind of the action and pulled it before getting hammered.

This isn't new. Bet365 has been doing this for 18 months across all their tennis outrights. They'll repost the market Wednesday with Alcaraz at +180 and act like nothing happened.

Wait, is this legal? Can they just remove markets after you've been tracking a price? I'm new to tennis betting but this seems dodgy.

If I'm monitoring Alcaraz at +280 and planning my stake, surely they can't just make it disappear? What happens to people who already backed him at that price - do those bets still stand?

This is exactly why I've moved most of my tennis futures to Rolletto - they keep their tournament winner markets live right up until the draw is made. Never had them pull a market on me.

Bet365's approach kills any edge you might have from early line shopping. The whole point of futures betting is getting value before the market corrects, but if they're pulling lines the moment they see sharp action, you're basically betting into a rigged game.

I track my tennis futures in a spreadsheet and Bet365 has pulled markets on me 6 times this year, always 48-72 hours before tournaments. Meanwhile smaller books like Rolletto seem happy to take the action and let the market play out naturally.

Everyone's missing the bigger picture here. Bet365 pulling Alcaraz at +280 is actually doing you a favour - that price was a trap anyway.

Alcaraz has won precisely zero indoor hard court titles this season. His movement on the faster Turin surface is compromised compared to clay, and Djokovic has home court advantage with the Italian crowd. The sharp money was probably on Djokovic or Sinner, not Alcaraz.

Sometimes when a book pulls your bet, they're saving you from yourself. The +280 looked juicy but the value was an illusion. I'm fading Alcaraz completely for Turin - his indoor record speaks for itself.

Bet365 = amateur hour for tennis futures. Freshbet still has Alcaraz at +290 and the market's rock solid.

Djokovic +220, Sinner +340. Turin final will be Djokovic vs Medvedev. Lock it in.

The market manipulation angle is interesting but let's look at the actual data behind that +280 Alcaraz price. Head-to-head against the Turin field: 3-2 vs Djokovic (but 0-2 on indoor hard), 2-1 vs Medvedev (1-1 indoor), 4-1 vs Zverev (2-0 indoor), and crucially 1-3 vs Sinner with their last indoor meeting going to Sinner in straight sets.

Alcaraz's indoor hard court stats this season: 67% first serve percentage (down from 72% on clay), 23% break point conversion (his worst surface split), and he's dropped the first set in 60% of his indoor matches. The injury report from Madrid shows he's still managing that forearm issue which affects his serve placement on faster surfaces.

Bet365 probably ran the same numbers and realised they'd priced Alcaraz as if he was playing on clay. The market pull wasn't about protecting against sharp action - it was about correcting a fundamental pricing error. When they repost it, expect Alcaraz around +400-450, which better reflects his actual indoor form and injury concerns.
