I followed tennis a lot back in the 1970s to mid 1980s. I met Vitas when he was playing in/for the World Team Tennis League for the Indiana Loves against the Cleveland Nets back in Summer of 1977. Having a Swedish background I was more interested in Bjorn Borg at first. My two friends and I had seats right behind Vitas. He joked around and he talked with us. Hardly anyone was at the old Cleveland Coleseum. Quite a thrill for a then nerdy 17 year old girl. Unfortunately I misplaced the photo he took with me. It's probably somewhere in the pile of photos that I hid with other guys and me that I put away before I got married. I should have misplaced my ex-husband instead!!! I was 8 months pregnant with my second son when Vitas passed away. It was such a tragic death and yes I do have carbon monoxide detectors in my house.
